Gallagher's Pub and Grill

Just a 15 minute walk from the dog beach, I stopped by Gallagher's Pub and Grill in Long Beach, CA to try their reuben, and enjoy some happy hour beverages. Nothing weird or atypical: your standard rye, swiss, corned beef, kraut, and 1000 Island. My original concern was that it was maybe too small, but this was not the case at all. Filled me right up. It was tough to find anything wrong with the sandwich, and the restaurant in general. To nitpick, the kraut-to-meat ratio was a little asymmetric, with a little more corned beef on one half and a little more kraut on the other half. Still very tasty though. Will I come back and order a reuben?: I believe I will. With this being the first review, the bar has been set fairly high.

Other notes about Gallagher's: They allow dogs on the patio, so the Inspector was able to join and get whiffs of the reuben. $2 beers. Alison got the chicken strips which were also good and $5 on the happy hour menu. I got onion rings with the reuben, and they somehow made them so that the onion doesn't try to "escape from the bread" after the first bite (Alison was amazed, and might start an onion ring blog).

I give the reuben 4 slices of swiss (out of 5).
